Plugged In: Richard Avedon at the MFA

“[Richard Avedon] approached fashion photography as art from the beginning,” said original curator Vince Aletti. “There’s a sense of understanding women – their sense of joy, beauty and clothing.”

The MFA’s Avedon Exhibit (the first retrospective focused solely on his fashion photography since 1978) began on August 10. Since the photographer’s death in 2004, the foundation’s put out five books, three shows and a catalogue of the archives.
